Use of Road Lanes

Contraflow lanes are designated lanes that facilitate traffic movement in the opposite direction compared to the majority of traffic flow.

Bus and cycle contraflow lanes are commonly found in one-way streets. These lanes are clearly marked with signs and road markings, and drivers should avoid entering them.

Contraflow lanes may also be implemented at roadworks. When encountering these lanes, drivers should reduce speed in advance, select an appropriate lane early, and maintain a safe following distance from the vehicle ahead.

On a three-lane motorway, the center and right-hand lanes are designated as overtaking lanes. After overtaking, it is essential to return to the left lane to allow other vehicles to pass. Overtaking on the left is prohibited on free-flowing motorways or dual carriageways.
