You are required to stop and provide your name and address if you’re involved in an incident. If there’s damage to another vehicle, property, or animal, it must be reported to the owner. Failure to do so at the scene necessitates reporting the incident to the police as soon as reasonably practicable, within 24 hours (immediately in Northern Ireland).

- Determine if the other driver owns the vehicle.
- Note down the make and registration number of the vehicle.
