Motorcyclists

Many of the safety considerations for cyclists also apply to motorcyclists. Give motorcyclists extra space when following or overtaking, and be alert for signs indicating they may be preparing to turn right. Exercise caution at junctions, as motorcyclists are smaller and less conspicuous than other vehicles.

Be vigilant for motorcyclists filtering between lanes or passing closely in congested traffic situations. Before making a right turn, thoroughly check for other traffic, especially motorcyclists who may be overtaking.

If you encounter a slow-moving motorcyclist and are uncertain of their intentions, maintain a safe distance behind them to allow for sudden changes in direction.

Motorcyclists often enhance their visibility by wearing brightly colored clothing and using dipped headlights, even during daylight hours. Additionally, they wear protective gear such as helmets to mitigate the risk of injury in the event of an accident. If you come across an injured motorcyclist, seek medical assistance and avoid removing their helmet unless absolutely necessary.
